Week 15 - Wild Week

This week we ae going to use precious plastic machines to produce products from recycled materials. We Would start by making a HDPE plastic sheet made of bottle caps, those caps are collected from Nile river.

the sheet press machine is semi automated. It can produce up to 50x80 cm sheet, the make temperature can reach 450c.

Next step is to prepare the plastic to be put on the sheet press.

We should measure the right amount of plastic , we need 2200g of plastic to get 5mm sheet

We repeat the same prosses with different colors till re get the required weight, then we start put the plastic between two sheet of metal.

it’s time to cook the sheet, it would take 20mins.

Lets play with the other Machine for the next 20mins.

This Semi-Automatic injection is designed and made by Fablab Egypt with partner VeryNile.

First step we would feed the machine with plastic and let it melt for 15 to 20 mins, main while we would prepare the mold

Its time to get the sheet out from oven (win win chicken dinner)

After you produce the sheet you can use the CNC router to produce any design you can. this week i would produce a costar to compare between the one from injection and the one from the sheet. I completed the design using fusion 360
